Rewriting Her Story is a forthcoming book presented by FOWI (Faces of Women Imprisoned). This powerful collaboration weaves together diverse tales of transformation and resilience to inspire self-discovery and hope. Embracing themes of God’s power, faith, spirituality, and the enduring impact of education and personal growth, the book reflects on experiences ranging from overcoming imprisonment, revenge, and psychological violence to the transformative journey of military life.
Through its rich narrative, Rewriting Her Story stands as a testament to the human spirit's capacity for positive change. The book delves into the power of thoughts, emotions, and self-awareness, urging readers to embark on their own journey of inspiration and transformation. As part of a broader movement, FOWI—a pioneering speakers bureau comprised of formerly incarcerated women—leads justice reform by offering essential resources in financial and digital education, housing, mental health support, and public speaking coaching.
In a significant stride to expand storytelling efforts, FOWI introduced an authorship track in Spring 2023, resulting in three published books with many more to come through the rewritingHerStory project. With over 20,000 hours of impactful workshops and a remarkable 0% recidivism rate supporting over 220 women, FOWI continues to empower justice-impacted women and reshape narratives in our community.
